【State school有咩收生條件?- 居英港人資訊分享】by Katherine⁣

你需要去你住果區council 網站申請。大部分學校會要求讀Year 5/ Year 6小朋友嘅家長或認可嘅大人親自接小朋友放學。⁣⁣⁣當然你可以申請其他區嘅學校,但過程會比較複雜。你亦都要考慮無校巴接送小朋友返學,而且返學嘅路程會比較長。⁣

(1) Community schools⁣⁣⁣⁣

由非宗教或非牟利local authority運作嘅學校⁣⁣⁣⁣

(2) Foundation schools and voluntary schools⁣⁣⁣⁣

同Community schools差唔多,但Foundation schools and voluntary schools有機會由宗教團體& local authority運作,而且比Community schools有更多自主性⁣⁣⁣⁣

(3) Academies schools⁣⁣⁣⁣

由非牟利academy trusts運作嘅學校⁣⁣⁣⁣

(4) Grammar schools⁣⁣⁣⁣

跟據小朋友成績要考試先知比唔比入嘅學校 (等同考狀元)⁣⁣⁣⁣

每間state school可以有佢自己嘅✏️入學標準條件✏️如下;⁣⁣⁣⁣

建議大家都係睇返英國政府/ council 網頁作準!!⁣

To apply to a state school, you go through your local council website. Your local council is determined by where you live. Yes you can apply out of your borough, but it is a little bit more complicated. As there are generally no school buses, it also takes longer to get your child to and from school. Most schools require a parent/registered with school adult to pick up your child until Year 5 (or some schools until Year 6.) ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Some examples of documents to show proof of address in state school admission: ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• a copy of your council tax bill; ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• a copy of a recent utility bill (gas, water, electric etc. dated within the last ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• six months); ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• a solicitors letter stating contracts have been exchanged and specifying a completion date and the new address; ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• a signed and dated tenancy agreement with the commencement date, plus proof of residency for example a copy of a recent utility bill. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

State school types: ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• community schools, which are sometimes called local authority maintained schools – they are not influenced by business or religious groups and follow the national curriculum ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• foundation schools and voluntary schools, which are funded by the local authority but have more freedom to change the way they do things – sometimes they are supported by representatives from religious groups ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• academies and free schools, which are run by not-for-profit academy trusts, are independent from the local authority – they have more freedom to change how they run things and can follow a different curriculum ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• grammar schools, which can be run by the local authority, a foundation body or an academy trust – they select their pupils based on academic ability and there is a test to get in ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Each state school is mandated to publish their admission criterion. For example: ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• home distance to school ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• sibling already at this school ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• from a particular religion (for faith schools) You will need your faith leader to fill in a form stating you have gone to worship at least once a month for at least a year ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• who pass an entrance exam (for selective schools, for example grammar schools) ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• who went to a particular primary school (a ‘feeder school’) ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• who are eligible for the pupil premium or the service pupil premium ⁣⁣⁣⁣

• whose parent has worked at the school for 2 years or more ⁣⁣⁣⁣

* Mid-year admission is normal. People switch schools for many reasons, such as relocation, clash with school culture, moving off the waiting list for first choice school etc. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
